Project / “CropCircles”
Numerical Data and Image Collection Project
“Crop Circles” is a project that assembles data and gleaned images, found on Google Earth, to shed light on the phenomenom of center pivot irrigation, an agricultural method used in the driest regions of the world.
This method draws its hydration from the aquifer, a precious and non-renewable natural resource. According to NASA researchers, the ground waters, sollicited at the current rate, could run out in the next 50 years.
This project visually evocates this risk, assembling by gradients of color numerous crop circles collected in specific areas. The crop circles are accompanied by their coordinates, and traceable via Google Earth.
